Reiki
Reiki, pronounced 'ray-key', is a system of energy healing originating from Japan by Mikao Usui. It is based on the belief that energy flows through all living things. When this energy is low we may feel stressed and prone to illness. When it is allowed to flow freely it brings about balance and improves wellbeing. Reiki treats the whole person including physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
What happens during a treatment?
Reiki is a simple treatment to receive, there is no massage or manipulation involved. After a brief consultation, you will lie down fully clothed, on a treatment couch or reclining chair, and a blanket will be placed over you for your comfort. With some gentle relaxing music playing in the background, I will begin by placing my hands in a series of non intrusive positions either on or near the body. The Reiki energy will flow to where it is needed the most.
Afterwards you will be encouraged to drink some water and we will discuss how the treatment went.
How will I feel during a treatment
Everyone is different, and so one person's experience may not be the same as someone else. Some clients feel heat, tingling sensations, see colours, or may feel emotional. For others they feel deeply relaxed.
How will I feel afterwards
Most people will feel relaxed and uplifted following the treatment. However, some people may experience a mild headache or stomach ache as the body starts to re-adjust itself. This is perfectly normal and should only last a short while. Try to rest, drink plenty of water and refrain from caffeine and alcohol during this time.
Frequency of treatments
Reiki can be enjoyed as a one off, weekly or monthly treatment depending on what you would like to gain from the sessions. As Reiki works on different levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, you may find that you benefit from weekly sessions to begin with, then monthly or bi-monthly for maintenance.
